SEO doesn’t matter – let me tell you why
Often when I am speaking with a customer about their property website, I hear some version of this:
“How can I insert SEO keywords into my single property website to increase my page views?”
When I hear this I cringe, but it’s understandable. SEO may seem like some Internet magic trick that gets you a ton of traffic, resulting in multiple offers over the asking price, sending you a giant commission check and a much-deserved vacation.
Unfortunately, this isn’t how SEO works.
Search Engine Optimization (SEO) refers to the method used to increase a website's position on search engine results pages (SERPs) on sites such as Google, Yahoo, or Bing.
While SEO keywords (when used correctly) can be beneficial for businesses selling a tangible product such as Nike sneakers or local artisan soaps, they really don’t matter in the case of single property websites.
Single property websites are not ideal for SEO marketing strategies because they are designed around one main concept, which limits your ability to rank for a wide variety of keywords. Because websites like MLS Listing, Zillow, Redfin, etc. have excellent SEO marketing, these will ALWAYS be the websites that pop up on SERPS first page.
So what CAN you do to increase page views, to make sure you will soon be on vacation?
Luckily there are several ways to increase page views to your single property website, and most only take a few minutes of your time!
Add a custom domain name, e.g. 123riverstreet.com this will make it easy for potential buyers to remember the web address and access your single property website.
Create a video tour of the property, the benefit of video tours is that you can gain search engine traction since videos are more likely to appear on SERPs.
Post the link to your single property website on social media such as Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter. You can now pay to "promote" your post on most social media websites.
Promote on Real Estate Aggregator sites such as MLS Listings.
